PRESS RELEASE Nº54
In less than two months, RPF death squads have struck twice in Nairobi-Kenya, targeting rwandese refugees. This follows another spate of terrorist incidents in Eastern Zaire, carried out by RPF agents, according to zairian security services.
The aborted assassination on February 26,1996 against Sendashonga Seth, former minister in RPF government who resigned his post over political differences, should be an eye opener to the international community.
RDR has times and again decried RPF atrocities, but the latter's lobby was swift to deny it and over dwell only on mistakes allegedly committed by former regimes.
Now that RPF has been caught red handed, RDR calls upon the international community, especially RPF supporters to condemn in the strongest terms, this coward act of international terrorism. The international community owes to boldly act, otherwise it will be seen to apply a double standard policy, while dealing with international terrorism.
If RPF can carry out such criminal act on a former ally who legitimately walked out of the government in protest, which amount of intoxication can convince refugees that it is safe to return home ?
RDR would like to bring to the attention of every peace loving person that the vice-president and strongman of RPF, major General Paul Kagame, has repeatedly threatened, even in public to unleash his terror to whoever he suspects of opposing his policy.
Those playing down RPF resolve to export its terrorism across the borders should stand warned that he who covers up an arsonist ends up seeing his own house set ablaze. This is a challenge to all those who genuinely vowed to fight state terrorism.
